Creek Fire Monument
The Creek Fire Monument as well as the GROW Mural are works that were commissioned for the exhibition GROW - The Tree in Art at the Austrian National Gallery Unteres Belvedere in 2022. Both pieces reference the California landscape following the “Creek Fire” of 2020, the largest single-source wildfire in California’s history at the time. The mask displayed within the monument was created out of the bark of a Ponderosa Pine tree that was destroyed by the “Creek Fire” near Shaver Lake, California.
